Relax Me Bath Soak by Mallow, an Australian magnesium bath soak used in an at-home spa night routine

How to Build an At-Home Spa Night Routine (That Actually Feels Like One)

Some nights call for more than a quick shower. A proper spa night doesn't need a day pass or a $200 booking β€” just the right order of steps and a few good products. Here's how to turn your bathroom into a genuine reset, start to finish.

1. Set the mood before you set foot in the bath

Spa nights fail when they're rushed. Dim the lights, put your phone on Do Not Disturb, and light a candle 15 minutes before you start so the scent has time to fill the room. Something warm and cozy works well here β€” our Vanilla Buttercream Candle or Caramel Candle both set a relaxed, bakery-warm tone without being overpowering.

2. Choose your soak with intent

This is the step most people skip, and it's the one that actually matters for how you'll feel afterward:

  • Winding down after a long day β€” a lavender-forward soak like our Relax Me Bath Soak (magnesium, bergamot, chamomile)
  • Recovering from a workout or a tense week β€” Recover Me Bath Soak, with peppermint, tea tree and eucalyptus
  • Just want it to feel fun and indulgent β€” drop in a Fairy Floss or Marshmallow Bath Bomb for the fizz and scent

Fifteen to twenty minutes is the sweet spot β€” long enough for the magnesium to do its thing, not so long your skin prunes.

3. Cleanse without stripping your skin

Skip harsh bar soap on spa night. A whipped soap gives a rich, creamy lather that cleanses without leaving skin tight afterward β€” the Lychee & Guava Whipped Soap is a good palate-cleanser scent if you've gone dessert-heavy on the candle and bath soak.

4. Lock in the hydration

This is the step people rush and shouldn't. Towel off while skin is still slightly damp, then apply a whipped body crème while pores are open — it absorbs faster and locks in more moisture than applying to fully dry skin. The Marshmallow Whipped Body Crème is light enough not to feel heavy before bed.

5. Wind all the way down

Keep the candle burning a little longer, put on something quiet, and resist the urge to check your phone for at least 20 minutes after. The routine works because you let it.
